  • How to Sign Up or Upgrade

To sign up free, go to our Plans & Pricing page and choose the free plan. To sign up for a paid plan, go to our Plans & Pricing page and choose a plan type. When we receive and process your payment, your account is upgraded and you'll have access to paid features.

  • SurveyMonkey Plans

Your plan determines the features you have. We have one free plan with limited features and several paid plans with more advanced features. Here's an outline of some of the main differences between them.

  • Monthly Payment Option

A monthly plan is a great option if you don’t want to pay for a whole year at once —you can pay and renew month to month. Monthly plans only include 1,000 survey responses per month, and additional responses cost extra.

  • SurveyMonkey Mobile Apps

Learn more about the three mobile apps SurveyMonkey has available for download.

  • Teams

If you need more than one SurveyMonkey account for your organization, create a team. Team plans offer consolidated billing, user management, shared images and templates, and collaboration features that help you and your team work together to create, send, and analyze surveys.

  • Discounts

We offer discounts to some nonprofits, students, and educators who are eligible. The discounts we have available differ depending on the country you're located in.

  • Downgrading to a Free Plan

If you miss a payment or cancel auto-renew before your next billing date, your account will downgrade to a free plan. All of your surveys and responses are stored in your account when you downgrade. To send surveys with paid features or to view and export all data, you’ll need to upgrade to a paid plan.

  • Payment Methods

Payment methods available depend on the plan type, billing country, and what you're buying. Whenever you're making a purchase, you'll see a list of all the payment methods available after you choose the country on the checkout page.

  • Your Billing Details, Invoices, & Payment History

From the Billing Details tab in My Account, you can access your upcoming invoices to be paid, check your next billing date, print out your paid invoices, edit your payment and billing information, and add a billing contact for your account.

  • Auto-Renew

Paid plans are subscriptions that auto-renew by default to ensure you don't lose access to paid features at your next billing date. If you decide you don’t want to keep your paid plan active after your next billing date, you can cancel auto-renew.

  • Why was I charged again?

Your plan may have auto-renewed, you may have exceeded your monthly 1,000 response limit, or new users may have joined your team.

  • Monthly Payment Option

A monthly plan is a great option if you don’t want to pay for a whole year at once —you can pay and renew month to month. Monthly plans only include 1,000 survey responses per month, and additional responses cost extra.

  • Audience Credits

Audience Credits let you pay for your SurveyMonkey Audience responses in advance. You pay one invoice upfront, then use credits to pay for individual projects.

  • Billable Responses (Response Overages)

With a free plan, you can view the first 100 responses of each of your surveys. Monthly plans include 1000 survey responses per monthly billing cycle. Annual plans have unlimited survey responses.

  • Taxes on SurveyMonkey Purchases

Taxes may be included in the price of subscriptions, renewals, and other purchases when applicable, depending on your billing country. Invoices are immediately issued upon checkout, and you can find them in your Billing Details.

  • PayPal Payments

PayPal is only available as a payment method in some countries. The best way to know if you can use PayPal is on the checkout page after you choose your billing country.

  • Billing Currency

The currency you’re charged in depends on the billing country where your payment method is located. Before you complete a payment, we make sure to clearly display your billing currency right above the Confirm or Pay button.
