Product and Creative Development Solutions

Product and Creative Development solutions are the process of evaluating a concept, like a product or an ad campaign, and how it’s received by consumers before it goes to market.

Using our LaunchPad Solutions, you can customize a solution using our built-in expert methodology, launch to a target audience from our global panels, and receive presentation-ready reports.

There are multiple solution types available, depending on the kind of stimuli you want feedback on:

Solution TypeStimuli Format
Product Concept TestingPNG, JPG, or GIF
Packaging TestingPNG, JPG, or GIF
Ad Testing (Image)PNG, JPG, or GIF
Ad Testing (Video)Vimeo or YouTube video link
Message TestingText, up to 4000 characters
Name TestingText, up to 250 characters
Logo Design TestingPNG, JPG, or GIF

A stimulus is an image, video, or message concept shown to someone in a survey. The stimulus format you can upload depends on the type of solution you choose. You can add up to 10 stimuli to a test.

After uploading your stimuli, you can use the textbox to add a Nickname. Nicknames won't be visible to your respondents, but they can help keep you organized later in your analysis—especially if you're testing multiple stimuli that look similar.

Depending on what type of test you choose, there are different ways to customize your survey.

Customization options include:

  • Instructions: Add instructions before your survey with context about what your respondents are about to see.
  • Attributes: Choose which important attributes you want to measure, like "overall appeal," "uniqueness," or "purchase intent".
  • Comparison question: Ask respondents to compare all stimuli and choose which one they like the best.
  • Custom questions: Add custom questions before or after your survey-takers see your stimuli. To add custom questions, when customizing your survey, select +Build, then View more, and then New Page. Once that new page is created, you can start adding your questions.
  • Benchmarks: Find out how your concepts perform against other brands by comparing your results to data from the industries you select.

Once your project is set up, you can use preview mode to make sure it looks good. Toggle between Desktop, Tablet, and Mobile views to see how your survey looks on various devices.

When you’re ready to send your survey, select the Collect icon from the left-side menu.

There are two ways to collect responses:

  • Share a survey link: Create a web link to send your survey to your own audience. This feature is only available on certain plans.
  • Target your ideal respondents: Buy responses from certain demographics using the SurveyMonkey Audience panel. This feature is available on all plans.

You can create multiple collectors for your study.

Create a Web link you can send however you want. To share a survey link:

  1. On the Collect page, select Add new collector, then select Web link collector.
  2. Customize your Web link settings. You can:
  3. Copy your Web link when you’re ready to send your survey.

SurveyMonkey Audience panelists have been sorted based on hundreds of targeting options, so you can target your respondents based on country, demographics, employment status, hobbies, religion, and more.

To choose your target audience:

  1. Select your target audience by choosing Country, Gender, Age, and Household Income criteria.
  2. Click + Targeting criteria to browse and choose from hundreds of other targeting options.
  3. (Optional): Add screening questions to narrow down your target audience and disqualify people who aren't the best fit for your survey. This is useful if you didn't find all the targeting options you wanted.
  4. Choose how many responses you want to receive for each stimulus you're testing. Each respondent sees only 1 stimulus, then answer questions about it. For example, if you're testing two different package concepts and select 200 responses, you receive 400 responses total.

To checkout and pay for your study:

  • Enter your Billing Details, review the total, and select Confirm.
  • Review the details of your order.
  • Under Payment Method, select to pay with Credit or Debit Card, or with My Credits.

Once you complete your payment, go to the Overview section of your survey to see an overview of your concept test's details, the estimated delivery date of your results, and the current status of your entire project.

Once your survey responses are complete, you can view insights and responses in the Analyze section of your survey.

The Analyze section has five tabs:

  • Overview: Track your survey status and see how many responses have been collected by each collector.
  • Comparison: An overview of the results of your concept test. This includes the overall Top 2 and Bottom 2 Box score across all stimuli, statistically significant results, charts, and scorecards for each attribute.
  • Stimulus details: See how each stimulus scored across the different attributes and custom questions.
  • Individual responses: See how individual respondents answered each question, including the date and time they responded, and how long they spent on your survey. You can also delete responses here.
  • Survey results: See the results for any custom questions you added to your survey, as well as comparison questions.

If you include benchmarks in your project, you can compare your results to other brands in the industries you select. Access your benchmarks in the Benchmarks section of the left sidebar.

On any page, select the Filters button above the chart to filter your data. Any filters you apply to one chart also apply to others. For example, if you add a Web link collector filter to your Counts analysis, we also apply it to your Empirical Bayes analysis.

Key driver analysis (KDA), also known as relative importance analysis, lets you compare the importance of factors like price, reliability, or status. This helps drive customer satisfaction, customer loyalty, or Net Promoter Score (NPS). Whether these scores are high or low, knowing these factors can be essential to your business.

You can export your results in PPT, XLSX, SPSS, or CSV format:

  • The PPT export includes all of the charts and scorecards from the Comparison and Stimulus Details tabs in a presentation-ready, editable format.
  • The XLSX, SPSS, and CSV exports include individual responses in a spreadsheet format.

To export your data:

  1. Select Export from the Analyze Results section.
  2. Choose PPT, XLSX, SPSS, or CSV format.
  3. Select Current view if filter rules are applied or Original view if no rules are applied.
  4. Name your file and select Export.
