SurveyMonkey

Analyzing Results with AI

Beta feature: Analyze with AI is only available to some customers at this time.

Analyze with AI, powered by the Azure OpenAI service and OpenAI, helps you find key insights and trends in your survey responses. Analyze with AI helps analyze your survey data by responding to your questions with charts and insight summaries.

Analyze with AI can analyze these question types:

  • Multiple choice
  • Checkbox
  • Dropdown
  • NPS
  • Rating
  • Comment Box
  • Singe Text Box

Analyze with AI can only analyze text responses if they’re tagged. You can use Sentiment Analysis, rule-based tagging, or manual tagging

Analyze with AI only answers questions about your responses. It can’t filter responses on the page, edit charts, answer questions about your account, or offer product support.

Certain survey use cases are not permitted—for details, please see SurveyMonkey's Acceptable Uses Policy, as well as additional third party provider usage policies, and acceptable use and conduct policies.

Analyze with AI uses the Azure OpenAI service or OpenAI to identify key trends and insights from your survey. When you use Analyze with AI, your survey questions and answer options are de-identified and sent to OpenAI to generate insights about your survey.

Your survey responses and metadata aren’t shared with OpenAI when using Analyze with AI.

Don’t include sensitive or personal information in your questions. Analyze with AI’s answers may have limitations based on the survey data or how you phrased your questions. Review the results carefully. Use of this feature is subject to additional terms, as described in our Service-Specific Terms.

To use Analyze with AI:

  1. Go to the Analyze Results section of your survey.
  2. Select Analyze with AI in the top right corner of the screen.
  3. Accept the terms and conditions.
  4. Type your question, or select View suggestions and select a suggested question.
  5. Select Send to ask your question.

Analyze with AI provides a text explanation in each answer. Some answers include a chart. Hover over the info icon below the chart to learn how Analyze with AI got this result. You can also see the questions that Analyze with AI used for this response.

You can rate the answer to let us know if it was helpful or accurate. Select the thumbs up or thumbs down icon to rate the answer. This data helps us provide more relevant answers in the future.

Here are a few tips to improve the answers you get from Analyze with AI.

  • Be specific: Clearly define what specific aspect of the data you are inquiring about.
  • Avoid general questions. Instead, target specific questions, metrics, or trends.
  • Use clear and direct language: Frame your questions in a straightforward and unambiguous manner. Avoid jargon or overly complex terms unless they are directly relevant to your survey.
  • Quantify when possible: Use numerical or percentage references to clarify what you are asking.
    • Example: "What percentage of respondents were very satisfied with the product quality?"
  • Ask for comparative analysis: To analyze trends, comparisons, or changes, specify the exact parameters you want to compare.
    • Example: "Compare the satisfaction levels between different age groups."
  • Focus on actionable insights: Frame questions in a way that seeks actionable insights or recommendations.
    • Example: "Based on the survey responses, what areas should we focus on to improve customer satisfaction?"
  • Consider data breakdown: Specify if you need a breakdown of responses by certain demographics or categories.
    • Example: "What are the satisfaction levels by geographic region?"
  • Seek clarifications on anomalies: If you notice any unusual patterns or outliers in your data, ask for clarifications or deeper analysis.
    • Example: "Why might there be a higher dissatisfaction rate among customers aged 18-24?"
