Daily summary notifications trigger a daily email to let you know how many complete survey responses you got the day before. Only survey owners can turn on instant notifications for their survey, but they can share those notifications with others.

Notifications are sent to the account email address, in the language and time zone selected on My Account
Daily summaries notify you of any responses collected between 12:00 am and 11:59 pm the previous day.

Anyone you shared a survey with is automatically added to the Recipients lists when you toggle Daily summary on.

When you turn on daily summary notifications, expect to be emailed:

  • A one-time email within 15 minutes of getting your first survey response. As long as the email is clicked through to a logged in SurveyMonkey, then they’ll receive
  • An email summary on weekday mornings with all enabled open surveys and surveys shared with you in your account. Each survey shows the number of new responses received since the previous day’s notification and how long the survey has been open.

A daily summary alert isn’t emailed if no new responses are collected since the previous notification was sent.

You can manage your response alerts for individual surveys or choose to manage all your surveys at once, as an account-wide setting.

You can manage your daily summary notifications from a couple entry points, depending on whether you want to set up response alerts for a single survey, all surveys in your account, or new surveys account-wide.

Account-wide notifications

You can Manage notifications from various entry points to turn daily summary notifications on or off for any single survey, or make an account-wide selection to turn alerts on for existing surveys or all new responses.

Choose Add or Add recipients to send a daily summary to anyone with a SurveyMonkey account. Simply enter a name or email address. If you're in a team, you can also select team members from the list.

When an alert is set up for someone, it also shares the survey with the following survey permissions:

  • View Only permissions for Design survey
  • No access to Publish surveys
  • View Only permissions for Analyze results

Anyone signed up for a shared daily summary notification can turn them off in their own account.

If you’re on a team, you can share alerts with people in or outside your team—as long as you're the survey owner. If someone is not in your team, they’ll get an email notifying them that you want to share notifications.

If on a team, you can edit sharing permissions for surveys you own. The person you shared the survey with must have at least view only access to Analyze Results to receive daily summary notifications for that survey.

If you turn off the toggle, it stops alert emails for yourself or recipients. Removing someone from a shared notification also removes the shared survey from their account.

When someone shares daily summary notifications with you, you'll get an email letting you know about it. Your account email address needs to match the email the notification was sent to.

Select  View survey to view the responses and agree to getting future notifications. You need to log in or sign up for a SurveyMonkey account. When you click through the first email, it’ll open a view only shared survey in your account so you can see the responses.

To stop receiving instant notifications, reach out to the survey owner, and they can take you off the alert list. To find out who the survey owner is, look for the name listed in the notification email. When you opt out of notifications, you won’t receive these notification messages in the Notification center.
