You can buy a SurveyMonkey Audience panel if you need people to take your survey. Target the types of people you want to hear from based on specific attributes, like country, gender, age, income, employment status, and more.
There are three main steps to launching your own SurveyMonkey Audience project:

You can buy SurveyMonkey Audience in countries where we offer SurveyMonkey. However, certain billing countries can't buy Audience due to technical billing limitations.
Audience responses are a one-time purchase you make within your account—they're not included in the cost of your plan subscription. But as a bonus, some plans include complimentary Audience Credits when you sign up!
If you don't have an annual plan, there are a couple things to keep in mind: With a free plan, you can only buy up to 100 Audience responses per survey (since you can only view 100 responses per survey on the free plan), and you can't export or download results.

Whether you're buying a US panel from SurveyMonkey Contribute or SurveyMonkey Rewards, or a global panel through our partners, you'll get the responses you need for your project.
Contribute and Rewards Panels
Our Contribute and Rewards panels host a diverse population of millions of people across the United States. If you choose to buy US responses, you’ll getting responses from our Contribute or Rewards panel.
SurveyMonkey Contribute members take surveys for charity and a chance to win a sweepstakes prize. SurveyMonkey Rewards members earn credits for completing surveys that they can redeem for rewards or donate to charity.
After signing up for Contribute or Rewards, members fill out a profile, allowing us to gather a wide variety of profile attributes, such as demographics (like gender, age, and region) and some other targeting characteristics you might care about (like cell phone usage, and job type).
If you choose a country outside of the US, you'll be getting responses from our global panel. See the list of countries you can target respondents from. We work with trusted partners to provide access to panelists sourced from around the world.
The respondents who take surveys have indicated they wish to take surveys and participate in our partner's programs. They are vetted by our partners to ensure respondent quality and activity reaches a satisfactory level. If they drop below this level, they can be removed from the program. This ensures only quality respondents are taking surveys.
Balancing & Regional Representation
Our panels represent a diverse group of respondents. However, they're not representative of the general population. As with most online sampling, respondents have internet access and voluntarily joined a program to take surveys, so they're representative of an online population.
We automatically balance Contribute and Rewards panels according to census data of age and gender, while location tends to balance out naturally.
Our Global partners let you target select regions within countries and balance regionally. They don't automatically balance panels according to age or gender.
Balancing precision and granularity improves as the number of responses increases. If you prefer a particular balance of age or gender, read more about custom balancing.
TIP! You can buy multiple Audience panels for your survey, one for each specific demographic you need—all the results will be recorded in the same place so you can easily filter and compare. For example, create one collector and buy responses from only males, then create another collector and buy responses from only females.
Designing Your Survey
Creating Your Survey
You need to create your survey in a SurveyMonkey account before you buy responses. Be sure to please review our design guidelines for requirements and best practices! They help make sure your survey is top-notch and can get you the best results. If your survey doesn't meet the requirements, you'll need to make some changes before you can buy responses.
For each person who took your survey, we include the age, gender, and type of device they used to take the survey in your survey results. We also include their annual household income and region if you purchased Contribute or Rewards responses.
If you need other demographic info, be sure to ask these questions in your survey. You can use pre-written survey questions from the Demographics category in our Question Bank.
Editing a Live Survey
You can edit your survey after you complete your purchase, but editing options are limited after you send a survey. If you make edits after you complete your purchase, it can cause issues for people taking your survey and complicate survey results—the results from people who take the updated survey might not align well with the results collected from the original version others might have taken.
If you're buying responses from our Contribute and Rewards panel, your survey needs to be in English.
If you're buying responses from our global panel, your survey needs to be in one of the supported languages for the country you're targeting. For example, if you're targeting Belgium, your survey needs to be translated into Dutch or French. We don't offer translation services at this time, but we do have some tips for creating multilingual surveys. Check out our complete list of countries you can target and survey languages you can use. How to Buy Responses
To buy responses:
Once you complete your payment, we email a standard survey invitation to a random group of respondents who match your targeting criteria, so you won't be able to edit your order or change your targeting criteria after purchase. Additionally, it's not possible to customize the invitation email.
Getting More Responses
You can create multiple collectors for a survey to get more responses. Target different demographics by buying multiple Targeted Audience Collectors, or send the same survey to your own respondents for free by creating other collector types, like a Web Link or Email Invitation. All responses are stored in the Analyze Results section of the survey, and you can filter results by the different collectors.
If you're buying from our Contribute or Rewards panel, your survey won't be sent to the same people within any 100-day period. But if you're buying our global panel, it's possible some of the same respondents will be asked to take the survey again.

Number of Questions and Length of Survey
The number of questions in a survey is directly correlated to how many people finish the survey—longer surveys take more time to complete and can cause respondents to exit or abandon the survey, so we have to send the survey to more respondents to find enough people who will finish. That's why longer surveys cost more per response.
Because survey length affects the number of respondents we can find, there's a 50-question maximum for SurveyMonkey Audience surveys.
When buying a global audience, cost is based on the length of time it takes to complete a survey. Length of time correlates with number of questions in the survey—approximately 4 questions are answered per minute.
Each question type in the survey counts as one question with an important exception: Each row in any Matrix/Rating Scale and Matrix of Dropdown Menus question you used counts as an individual question. Text and Image elements added to the survey do not count as questions.
Each targeting option you select (like respondent location, gender, income, etc.) costs an additional amount per response, depending on how common or difficult it is to find among our available respondents. Targeting criteria may adjust depending on the country you're purchasing responses from.
Your Survey Results
Seeing Your Results
After you complete your purchase, you can monitor the status of your project in the Collect Responses section of your survey—just click the Targeted Audience Collector from the collector list to see how many responses you have and the estimated project completion date.
As your results come in, you can view responses in real time in the Analyze Results section of your survey. There are lots of ways to analyze your data:
Filtering by Demographic
With any Audience purchase, we automatically provide some demographic information (age range, gender, and the device type used to take the survey) as additional questions at the end of your survey results. If you purchased our Contribute or Rewards panel, we also provide annual household income and region.
You can filter and compare your results by demographic info for interesting insights. You can also view a particular respondent's demographic info at the end of their response in the Individual Responses tab.
In the Individual Responses tab of your survey results, you'll find each person's response status.
We automatically pause projects that have a higher than average abandon rate or language disparity. High abandon rate (or a low response rate) means many respondents exit or abandon your survey after starting it. If your project is paused, an Audience specialist will email the primary account holder with survey recommendations and give you an opportunity to make any necessary changes so you can improve the quality of your data.
Projects often pause if a survey is too long or confusing. Complicated Matrix questions, long or unclear introductions and consent statements can cause respondents to abandon a survey. Respondents may also abandon your survey if they feel it isn't relevant to them, so it's important you're targeting the right people.
Unfortunately, we can't reactivate a project if it pauses a second time. This is to ensure that you're receiving quality data and that our survey respondents continue to receive surveys that are relevant to them.
