SurveyMonkey

ENTERPRISE FEATURE: If you're interested, contact sales. If you already have an Enterprise account, contact your Customer Success Manager.

Use offline mode and the SurveyMonkey Anywhere app to collect responses without an internet connection, then upload them back to SurveyMonkey once you have internet access.

Offline mode is not available with Market Research solutions surveys or if you have data stored in our European Data Center. You can check where your data is stored by checking your Account Details.

Offline mode lets you collect survey responses in the SurveyMonkey Anywhere app when you don't have an internet connection.

✅ Create your survey in SurveyMonkey and share it with your team

✅ Create a Kiosk Survey Collector in SurveyMonkey

✅ Collect responses in the SurveyMonkey Anywhere app*

✅ Upload your responses from the app to SurveyMonkey

✅ Access your survey, collector, or analyze your results in SurveyMonkey

* Some offline mode functionality is only available to Power seats—learn about Enterprise Team Seats, Roles and Permissions

To collect responses using offline mode, first you'll need to create a new survey. If your survey uses any incompatible features, you’ll be prompted to remove them before moving forward.

To share the survey, you must be logged into an Enterprise account with offline mode turned on. You can then register your device slots with any Power seat who will be collecting responses. This lets them download the survey in the SurveyMonkey Anywhere app.

TIP! You can also share surveys with Casual seats or anyone outside of your team—they can only conduct the survey online.

  • Incompatible Features

To turn on offline mode, first you need to create a Kiosk Survey Collector and validate your survey to make sure it will work offline.

To create a Kiosk Survey collector:

  1. Go to the Collect Responses section of your survey.
  2. Create a Kiosk Survey collector.
  3. Click Validate the survey to turn on offline mode. If your survey uses any incompatible features, you’ll be prompted to remove them before moving forward.
  4. Click Text a download link to send the SurveyMonkey Anywhere app download link to anyone on your team via a one-time text message, or copy and share the link.

Once offline mode is turned on, your survey is locked and you won’t be able to make edits to it. If you need to edit your survey, make a copy of the survey, edit the copy, and then create a new offline collector.

Once you're logged in to the SurveyMonkey Anywhere app, you can download a survey to use offline and collect responses without an internet connection, manage responses, then upload them back to SurveyMonkey once you have internet access.

  • Uploading Responses

To turn off offline mode, you’ll need to close any open Kiosk Survey collectors.

To close a collector:

  1. Go to the Collect Responses section of your survey.
  2. Click the three dots (...) next to an open Kiosk Survey collector and select Close collector.
  3. Choose Flag to Close or Close Now.
  4. Click Confirm.

When you select Flag to Close, everyone who downloaded the survey to the SurveyMonkey Anywhere app is prompted to upload their responses to SurveyMonkey. Once all responses are uploaded, the collector closes automatically.

When you select Close Now, your collector will be closed immediately and anyone answering the survey in the app may be interrupted and unable to complete their response. Any responses that haven’t already been uploaded to SurveyMonkey are permanently deleted.

Once offline mode is turned on, you can see the number of devices that have downloaded the survey for offline collection on the collector page. Clicking View All next to the number of devices will show you:

  • The device name
  • The account holder's email address
  • The date the survey was downloaded to the device

From the Offline Devices page in the My Teams dropdown, Primary Admins and Admins can see all available device slots and a list of enabled devices across all surveys. To remove an offline-enabled device and free up a device slot, click - next to the device.
