Each SurveyMonkey account is meant for one person. Sharing login details opens your account to risk of a potential breach. As an account holder, you're not just protecting your own personal info, you're responsible for all the data you collect—like customer contact info, private research, protected health info, or employee data.
Everyone you're working with should have their own account with their own username and password. We have some great ways you can work with other people on surveys, no matter what kind of SurveyMonkey account you have.
You should be the only one who knows your password. If you suspect your account has been accessed by someone else, change your password immediately.
A good password contains more than 8 characters and has numbers, upper and lower case letters, as well as special characters. The longer the password, the better. Avoid using names, birthdays, common dates, and obvious words or phrases that describe the website the password is for.
Using a mnemonic is a clever way to create a complex and memorable password—just memorize a phrase and use the first letter of each word for your password. For example, if you like to run in the park three times a week, your password could be RitP3XaW!
Avoid using the same password for all websites, apps, and online services you use. Since it’s difficult to remember all your passwords and you should never write them down, consider using a password manager to securely manage all your passwords.
The tips in this section are helpful for your email password too. If someone accesses your email account (like Gmail, Yahoo!, or Outlook), they could reset your email password and gain access to other online accounts, like SurveyMonkey.
You can change the email address on file to ensure your SurveyMonkey account's secure. You should be the only person with access to your email account and avoid using generic, role-based, or list-serv email addresses like info@, admin@, or sales@yourcompany.com for your SurveyMonkey account.
When you create a read-only shared data page to share your results with others, you can password-protect the page to restrict access to only those that know the password.
If you're on a team plan, you can share surveys to give others access to the Survey Design, Collect Responses, or Analyze Results sections and set the appropriate permissions for each person. You can also use the Library to securely store and share brand assets, like images and survey templates, with everyone on your team.
If there are multiple people in your organization using SurveyMonkey, create a team and choose to let your organization retain ownership of data in employee accounts in the event that someone leaves the company.
