Allowing Multiple Responses
By default, most collectors allow one response per respondent—Multiple Responses is turned off and a respondent can only take the survey once per browser or email address.
For some collector types, you can turn on Multiple Responses to let people take the survey more than once. Using a Web Link to do this is great solution if you plan to have respondents answering your survey on shared computers, like in a kiosk or computer lab.
You can allow a survey to be taken multiple times from these collector types and options. We recommend using a Web Link.
- Web Link Collector
- Facebook Messenger Collector
- Manual Data Entry Collector
- Social Media Collector
- Kiosk Mode
Web Link Collectors
To turn on Multiple Responses for a Web Link:
- Go to the Collect Responses section of your survey.
- Click the name of the collector to access the collector options.
- Click Multiple Responses.
- Select On, allow the survey to be taken more than once from the same device. Your changes save automatically.
Facebook Messenger Collectors
If you're sharing a survey in Messenger, there's no option for Multiple Responses because it's always on. If someone who's already completed the survey opens it again, they can submit a new response. If they haven't completed the survey yet, they'll have to complete the survey before they can take it again.
By default, collectors have Multiple Responses turned off and allow only one response per browser. Most collector types can only allow one response per browser or email address, including Email Invitation and Website Collectors.
Web Link Collectors
If you choose to allow only one response per computer, cookies must be enabled on the respondent's browser for this setting to work properly—the cookie remembers the survey was already taken from that browser.
If someone tries to access the survey again on the same browser using the same Web Link for your survey, they'll see a notification that they have already taken the survey.
If a respondent's browser is set to clear cookies each time it's closed or they access the survey on a different browser or device, then they can access the survey multiple times.
Email Invitation Collectors
You can only collect one response per email address, so there isn't an option to allow multiple responses per computer.
If you want respondents to answer the survey more than once, you need to create multiple Email Invitation Collectors.
Website Collectors only allow one response per computer. It's not possible to change this setting.
Cookies must be enabled on the respondent's browser for this setting to work properly. If a respondent's browser is set to dump cookies each time it's closed, then they can access the survey multiple times.
