Tagging Responses

Creating & Adding Tags

You can create tags and use them to categorize responses on a question with text responses.

Once you add tags to your responses, they'll be visible in the survey's Question Summaries tab or when viewing individual responses.

To create a tag:

  1. In the Analyze Results section, scroll to a question with text responses.
  2. Go to the Tags tab.
  3. Click +New Tag.
  4. Enter a name for your tag and choose a color to help you distinguish it from other tags.
  5. Click Save.

To tag responses:

  1. Go to the Responses tab.
  2. Use the checkboxes to select responses.
  3. Click Add Tags and select the tags you want to apply to the selected responses.
  4. Click Apply.

Managing Tags

After you tag your responses, the Tags tab displays the total number of tags you've created for the question. You can also edit or delete tags from this tab.

You can only apply a tag to the question you added it to. If you want to use the same tag on another question, you’ll need to add a separate tag to that question.

Filtering by Tags

You can filter text responses by tag—either within a question or across your entire survey.

Filtering within a question

When you filter by tag within a question, you're displaying all of that question's responses with a specific tag. For example, if you want to only see the responses you tagged "Follow Up".

You can also choose to display any untagged responses.

To filter by tags within a question:

  1. Go to the Analyze Results section of your survey.
  2. Scroll to a question with text responses.
  3. Go to the Responses tab.
  4. Click Filter by Tags.
  5. Select which tags you want to display.
  6. Click Apply.
Filtering across a survey

When you filter by tag across a survey, you're displaying responses to every question in your survey from people who responded to a question with a specific tag. For example, if you tagged responses with "Complaint" and wanted to see how those people responded to the rest of your survey.

To filter by tag across an entire survey, create a Filter rule to filter by tag.
