Shared Data Pages

If you want to share your survey results with others without giving them access to the survey in their account, create a shared data page and share the link anywhere.

Creating a Shared Data Page

To create a shared data page:

  1. From Analyze Results, click Save As in the upper-right corner.
  2. Click Shared data link—this shares what you see in the Question Summaries tab, including any rules you have applied and custom charts.
  3. Under SHARED DATA in the left sidebar, click a Shared Data link to open the page in a new tab.

The shared data page is available to anyone with the link. You can manage share settings to update who can access the page and the data it includes.

Shared data pages display custom charts as they appeared when you created the link. Chart data updates within 5-10 minutes as you collect new responses. However, visual edits (like chart type or color) you make to charts do not update. You can create a new shared data page to share visual edits.

TIP! You can also share a Saved View of your data. Click . to the right of the Saved View to share.

Managing Access and Settings

You can control who can access your shared data page and what data you want to include. Edits you make to the settings after you've already created the shared data page don't affect the URL.

To manage access and settings:

  1. Under SHARED DATA in the left sidebar, click . to the right of the Shared Data link you want to manage.
  2. Select Manage Share Settings.
  3. Choose who you want to access the results, explained in detail below.
  4. Edit the available share settings, explained in detail below.
  5. Click Get Link to view, customize, or copy the web link.
  6. Click Preview above the link to make sure the page looks as you expected.
  7. Copy the link and share it however you'd like.
Who Can Access

When you Manage Share Settings, you can select who you want to be able to access the shared data page:

  • Private: Anyone with the link can view and share the link with others directly or through social sharing.
  • Restricted: People must enter a password you create to see the page. Paid plans only.

Social and integration sharing allows people to share your shared data page on a social network (Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn, or Google+) or a collaboration app (Slack). When you restrict access to your shared data page by password, social and integration sharing options are disabled to ensure your data is kept private.

TIP! If you're in a team, you can share surveys with collaborators and give them access to the Analyze Results section in their own account.
Share Settings

You can select several sharing options to control what appears on the shared data page:

  • Shared Page Title: Edit the title that appears at the top of the shared data page. By default, this is your survey title.
  • Description: Write an introduction to describe the shared data. This appears under the title at the top of the page.
  • Open-Ended Responses: Show open-ended comment, text, and numerical responses in the shared data.
  • Data Trends: Include a Data Trends tab in the shared data to show how responses have changed over time. Paid plans only.
  • Individual Responses: Allow viewers to browse the Individual Responses tab to see how particular respondents answered the survey.
  • SurveyMonkey Branding: Remove the SurveyMonkey logo and sign up buttons from the shared data page. This feature is only available on some plans—see if it’s on your plan.
Managing Saved Pages

Shared data pages are stored in the SHARED DATA section of the left sidebar. To manage your shared data, click . to the right of the shared data page to reveal the following options:

  • Manage Share Settings: Edit who can access and share settings, explained in detail above.
  • Rename: Create a nickname for your shared data. This will only show within your account in the SHARED DATA section of the left sidebar. This will not show on the shared data page.
  • Turn sharing off: Disable access to your shared data page temporarily, without permanently deleting it. When your viewers try to access the page, they'll see a message that your data is not accessible.
  • Delete sharing: Permanently delete access to your shared data page. When your viewers try to access the page, they'll see a message that your data is no longer available.
