Customizing Survey Links
Custom URL Ending
You can create a Custom URL Ending to make your link more relevant to your survey and respondents. The URL ending is the part of the URL that comes after the /r/ in a survey link. By default, this is a randomly-generated string of numbers and letters.
You can use a Custom URL Ending for any Web Link Collector or Social Media Collector. It's not available for other collector types.
You can't customize your URL ending for Web Links with the Recurrence collector option turned on. If you create a Custom URL Ending, the Recurrence is automatically disabled—and vice versa.
To create a Custom URL Ending:
- Go to the Collect Responses section of your survey.
- Click the Web Link or Social Media Collector you want to edit.
- Click Customize to the right of the survey link.
- Enter a Custom URL Ending (100 characters or less).
- Click Save.
- Alphanumeric characters (A to Z, a to z, and 0 to 9)
- Hyphens (-)
- Underscores (_)
Spaces or special characters are not accepted.
You can transfer a Custom URL Ending to another one of your Web Link or Social Media Collectors. However, the same URL cannot be used on two collectors at once.
To transfer a Custom URL Ending:
- Go to the Web Link or Social Media Collector you wish to transfer the URL to.
- Click Customize.
- Type in the Custom URL Ending. Click Save.
- Click Transfer URL. The URLs for both collectors will update.
If you delete a collector with a Custom URL Ending, you may not be able to use it on a future collector. If you'd like to re-use a Custom URL Ending, we recommend not deleting the collector until you transfer the Custom URL Ending to a new collector.
Changing the Domain
You can also change the domain of your survey link to use the White Label URL. You can choose the domain research.net to create a White Label URL for your survey.
Your Default Domain
When you change your default domain preference, new collectors you create will use the domain you select. Existing collectors aren't affected.

- Click My Account from the drop-down menu.
- Scroll to GENERAL PREFERENCES.

If you're sharing a survey for people to take in Facebook Messenger, it's not possible to change to domain since it needs to use a special domain to open the survey in the Messenger app.
It's not possible to directly edit the domain of an existing survey link in other collector types. Please edit your default domain and create a new collector to ensure the White Label URL is being used.
