SurveyMonkey

Limitations: This integration is available for US data center accounts only and the setup is only available in English.

SurveyMonkey's integration with Microsoft Teams lets you:

  • Add a personal app or use a messaging extension to create, view, edit, or share polls, surveys, or quizzes, and results
  • Create, collect, and view responses directly in a Microsoft Teams channel, group chat, or private chat
  • Share survey results collected in Microsoft Teams or SurveyMonkey in a Channel tab
  • Set up notifications to let the team know when there are new responses or comments

TIP! Based on your SurveyMonkey plan, you may need to upgrade to use some features or view all responses.

The first time you install the SurveyMonkey app in Microsoft Teams, you need to log in to your SurveyMonkey account to connect to Microsoft Teams. Your account will store any polls, surveys, quizzes, and responses created and collected in Microsoft Teams.

You can view results in the Analyze Results section of SurveyMonkey or a Microsoft Teams channel, chat, tab, or personal App.

The SurveyMonkey personal app is a private space for you to create, share, edit, or analyze results of all your polls or surveys.

To add SurveyMonkey as a personal app:

  1. Click ... on the left side panel of Microsoft Teams. You can find all your apps here.
  2. Search for and select SurveyMonkey.
  3. Click Add to install and authorize your SurveyMonkey account.

TIP! You can pin your SurveyMonkey personal app for easy access to your polls or surveys. Click ... on the left side panel, right-click on the SurveyMonkey icon, and select Pin. The SurveyMonkey personal app will appear on the left side panel.

You can create and share a poll, survey, or quiz with others through a conversation in a channel, group chat, or private chat.

To add SurveyMonkey as a messaging extension:

  1. Click New Conversation within a Microsoft Teams channel, or if you’re in a chat, move on to the next step.
  2. Click ... from the message menu.
  3. Search for and select SurveyMonkey.
  4. Click Add to install and authorize your SurveyMonkey account.

TIP! You can pin your SurveyMonkey messaging extension for easy access to your surveys. Click ... on the bottom panel, right-click on the SurveyMonkey icon in the search modal, and select Pin. The SurveyMonkey messaging extension will appear on the bottom panel.

You can create a poll, survey, or quiz to get feedback from your team. Share your poll, survey, or quiz with others in a channel, group chat, or private chat.

To create and share a poll, survey, or quiz:

  1. Open SurveyMonkey in the personal app or messaging extension in a Microsoft Teams channel or chat.
  2. Click New and choose to create a poll, survey, or quiz, or start from a template.
  3. Add a Title.
  4. Select a Question type from the dropdown—Multiple choice, Dropdown, Checkbox, Comment box, Star rating, or Slider.
  5. Add your Question.
  6. Add your answer Choices. If you’re creating a quiz, assign points to answer choices in Score.
  7. If you want the question to be Required, click the toggle on.
  8. Click + Add Question to add additional survey or quiz questions.
  9. View the live Preview to make sure it looks good.
  10. Click Share.
  11. Click the toggles to control your settings.
    • Keep responses anonymous: Don’t track and store info that identifies the survey takers.
    • Schedule closing: You set when to close the survey.
  12. Click Share to teams and add a message to include with the card on the selected channel or chat. If you’re working from the Personal app, you can share the survey to multiple teams or channels. To share wherever you want, you can Copy URL.

Your team can take the poll, survey, or quiz from the SurveyMonkey card added to the Microsoft Teams channel or chat to take it without having to leave Microsoft Teams.

You can Edit any poll, survey, or quiz as long as there are only supported question types and no logic. Otherwise, you can edit the survey in SurveyMonkey.

TIP! When you create a poll in Microsoft Teams, a web link collector is generated and can’t be edited. Errors may occur if you make changes to the web link.

Open SurveyMonkey in the personal app or messaging extension and click Results to view charts right in Microsoft Teams.

If your survey includes unsupported question types or logic, you can view results in SurveyMonkey.

TIP!  If you are using the Free SurveyMonkey plan or are a Casual user, you'll be prompted to view results in your browser.

You can add a tab to any Microsoft Teams space to share results from surveys, polls, and quizzes created in either Microsoft Teams or SurveyMonkey.

If you don't have access to this feature, you may need to update your Microsoft Teams app.

  1. From the Microsoft Teams channel menu, click the + Plus Icon.
  2. Use the search bar to find SurveyMonkey. Once a tab is added, you can update the default tab name.
  3. Check the box next to Post to channel about this tab if you want to let members know about the new tab.
  4. Click Save.
  5. Click + Share survey to tab and select which survey, poll, or quiz results you want to share. You can do this multiple times to share results from multiple surveys in one place, or share different results in different tabs.
  6. (Optional) Configure additional options like including Open-Ended responses, Data Trends, or Individual Responses with your survey results.

Once you've added a survey to the tab, click on the survey card to view the results. Select the ... Icon to remove the card, or view more analytics in SurveyMonkey.
