As we develop advanced AI features, we will add these capabilities to your available permissions. When new AI feature permissions become available, we’ll notify admins on Teams and Enterprise accounts before we make the feature available.

Transparency is one of our guiding AI principles. We’ve outlined below how our AI and machine learning features process your data when you use them.
Feature | Description |
Build with AI | Build with AI allows SurveyMonkey customers to create surveys assisted by generative AI, utilizing the Azure OpenAI or OpenAI service. To provide the Build with AI feature, your survey prompts and an encrypted user ID are sent to the Azure OpenAI or OpenAI Service. These third party providers don't use this data to train their models. Your use of generative AI features is subject to our Privacy Notice (section 3 in particular). For details on the terms that apply to the use of this feature, please see our Self-Serve AI Service-Specific Terms and SurveyMonkey Enterprise Service-Specific Terms. |
Sentiment Analysis | Sentiment Analysis uses our proprietary machine learning models to classify text responses as positive, negative or neutral. |
Response Quality | Response Quality uses our proprietary machine learning models to scan your survey data and flag low-quality responses. |
Analyze with AI | Analyze with AI uses the Azure OpenAI service or OpenAI to deliver insights. When you use Analyze with AI, your survey data, including survey title, survey questions, and answer options are sent to the Azure OpenAI service or OpenAI to generate insights about your survey. Any questions or prompts you enter are shared with OpenAI or Azure OpenAI. Individual survey responses and metadata submitted to your survey aren’t shared with the Azure OpenAI service or OpenAI, and your content isn’t used to train these third party providers’ models. |
Thematic Analysis | SurveyMonkey's Thematic Analysis feature uses a self-hosted Anthropic model in a secure data environment to analyze and group your responses. The feature uses your question text, response text, and response ID. Your survey data remains private and secure. Anthropic does not have access to your data and your data is not used to train their AI models. We also mask common data types, like phone numbers and social security numbers, to reduce exposure of potentially sensitive data. |
