General

What features are included in the SurveyMonkey app?
You can use the app to create new surveys, or monitor existing surveys.
The app includes the following features:
Edit
- Add, edit, or delete questions
- Add prewritten questions from our Question Bank
- Add descriptive text or images
- Choose to show or hide the survey title, page title, question numbers, or exit link
- Change the survey language
- Change the theme colors

- Add or delete pages

- Send web link collectors via your mobile email client, Facebook, Twitter, or text. Or, just copy the link from the app to distribute in other ways
- Allow multiple responses per device
- Use kiosk mode to collect responses directly on your device

Authenticating your account (Android only)
Upgrading Your Account (iOS only)
You can upgrade to a Standard monthly or Standard annual plan within the SurveyMonkey app. If you are interested in upgrading to an Advantage, Premier, or Enterprise plan, you can from our desktop site.
Upgrading to Standard activates paid features such as unlimited questions and unlimited filters. You can also access the full set of Standard features when you access SurveyMonkey on our desktop site.
To upgrade in the app:
1. From the Home screen, tap the three lines icon to access the menu.
2. Tap Upgrade.
3. Tap either the Monthly or Annual option to go to the iTunes Store.
4. Complete your purchase in the iTunes store.
You can only upgrade one account for your Apple ID. If you need to upgrade additional accounts, please do so on our desktop site.
Upgrading from Standard to a Higher Plan
If you've already purchased a Standard plan through the iOS app and would like to upgrade your account to a higher plan type, please contact support. Since in-app purchases are handled by iTunes billing rather than SurveyMonkey, our support team needs to help you upgrade your account.
Upgrading Your Account (Android only)
SurveyMonkey and Privacy Rights
SurveyMonkey is complying with applicable privacy regulations like the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA). Our features can help you to comply when using SurveyMonkey.
SurveyMonkey account holders within or outside of the EU may be required to respond to requests from people who ask to exercise their privacy rights.

Canceling Auto Renew (Android only)
You can cancel auto-renewal on the My Account page:
1. Log into your account at www.surveymonkey.com
2. Click your username in the upper right corner.
3. Click My Account.
4. Click the Billing Details tab.
5. Under Billing Profile, click Cancel next to Auto-renew.
6. Click Cancel Auto-Renew.
The account will downgrade to the free Basic plan at the end of the billing period. If your account is HIPAA-enabled, the account will instead go into a suspended state at the end of the billing period. See SurveyMonkey's cancellation policy for more information on canceling your account.
Canceling Auto Renew (iOS only)
I purchased my paid plan through the SurveyMonkey app.
If you wish to cancel auto-renewal, you can manage your subscription through the Apple App Store: http://support.apple.com/kb/ht4098
I purchased my paid plan on the SurveyMonkey website.
If your purchased your paid plan on the SurveyMonkey website, you can cancel auto-renewal on the My Account page:
1. Log into your account at www.surveymonkey.com
2. Click your username in the upper right corner.
3. Click My Account.
4. Click the Billing Details tab.
5. Under Billing Profile, click Cancel next to Auto-renew.
6. Click Cancel Auto-Renew.

Adding and Managing Team Members
If you are an admin for a SurveyMonkey team plan you can use your mobile app to add and manage users on your team. SurveyMonkey team plans let you collaborate on surveys with other users.
If you don’t have a team plan, learn how to create one and read more about how team billing works.
From your Home screen you can use the Team Status panel to:
- Add new users to your team
- View how many seats you’ve used and how many are available
- View the number of active users on your team
- View the number of users whose invites are pending
From the Team Update panel you can see how many invites haven’t been accepted and send invite reminders.
To invite a new user:
1. Either tap Add Users from your Home screen or tap a from the My Team screen.
2. Enter an email address for the user you want to invite.
3. Tap Send Invitation. If you haven’t already purchased a seat, you’ll be asked to confirm the purchase. You’re billed team overages for each invitation sent that exceeds the number of seats available on the team.
Tip! You can use the web app to create and manage a team sign up page.
From the My Team page you can manage and view your team’s members.
Tap on a Pending user to:
- Resend their invitation email
- Copy their invitation link
- Cancel the invitation
Tap on an Active user to:
- Reassign their account along with all of the surveys and data contained within it to another user. You’re not charged for reassigning accounts.
- Permanently delete their account along with all of the survey and data contained in it. This frees up a seat on your team.
Changing Your Username, Email, or Password
To change your username, contact email, or password:
1. From the Home screen, tap the Account icon.
2. Tap the field you want to update to change it.

Move, Copy, or Delete Questions or Pages
Questions
To move, copy, or delete a question:
1. On the Edit screen, tap the settings icon in the upper right corner.
2. Tap Copy, Move, or Delete.
  To move a question: Tap and hold the three lines next to the question you want to move, and drag and drop the question into the desired position in the survey.
  To copy a question: Swipe left on the question you want to copy, and tap Copy.
  To delete a question: Swipe left on the question you want to delete, and tap Delete.
Pages
To move a page:
1. On the Edit screen, tap the page numbers at the bottom of the screen.
2. Tap and hold the page number you want to move.
3. Drag the page to the desired position.
To delete a page:
1. On the Edit screen, tap the page count at the bottom of the screen and select the page you want to delete.
2. Tap the page count at the bottom of the page again and select delete.
Changing the Survey's Theme and Display Options
The SurveyMonkey app offers some ability to change the look and feel of your survey. You can choose from a selection of pre-made color themes, and configure a few display options to show or hide certain elements of the survey, like the survey title or question numbers.
NOTE: You can't customize themes on the SurveyMonkey app. Please log into your account on our desktop site to customize the name, colors, and typography of your survey theme.
To change a survey's theme:
1. On the Edit screen, tap . in the upper right corner.
2. Tap Color Themes.
3. Tap the preferred color scheme to apply it to your survey.
To show or hide the survey title, page title, or question numbers:
1. On the Edit screen, tap the Settings icon in the upper right corner.
2. Tap Display Options.
3. Tap the toggle next to each survey element to show or hide that element.
  If the toggle is green (on), that element shows to survey takers when they take your survey.
  If the toggle is white (off), that element is hidden from survey takers.
4. Tap Save.
Adding and Editing Questions
To add a question to a survey:
1. On the Edit screen, tap the circled Plus icon.
2. Tap the question type you want to add.
3. Enter the question text and answer choices.
4. Tap Save.
To edit a question:
1. On the Edit screen, tap the question you want to edit.
2. Make your changes.
3. Tap Save.
You can currently add the following question types on the SurveyMonkey app:
- Multiple Choice
- Dropdown
- Comment Box/Paragraph
- Matrix/Rating
- Image
- Text
You can edit all question types with the app, except A/B Tests (Random Assignment).
To access all available question types and options, log into your account at www.surveymonkey.com.
Creating and Previewing a Survey for Mobile
As you create your survey, keep in mind that many of your survey takers may take the survey on their phone or tablet. It's important to consider how the survey appears on a mobile screen, and how that can affect mobile completion rates.
When creating a survey for mobile survey takers:
- Use simple multiple choice question types.
- Be as clear and concise as possible; avoid long descriptions.
- Limit the number of answer options so that all choices are visible on the screen at the same time.
- Limit your use of the Comment Box/Paragraph question. Open-ended question types have a negative impact on mobile survey completion rates.
- Distribute questions over multiple, short pages, rather than creating just a few, long pages.
- If you add an image, keep in mind that mobile users' limited network download speed can cause the image to load slowly.
- Preview the survey on your own mobile device before sending it to survey takers.
To preview your survey:
1. On the Edit screen, tap the Settings icon in the upper right corner.
2. Tap Preview & Test.
3. Fill out the survey as though you were a survey taker. This helps you confirm that the design is set up correctly, and help you find any parts of the survey you may want to edit or fix.

Sending Surveys

Run Your Survey in a Loop with Kiosk Mode
With Kiosk Mode you can turn your device into a survey taking station. When Kiosk Mode is running, your survey runs in a loop, returning to the beginning of the survey each time a response is collected. In order to run a survey using Kiosk Mode, the survey needs to be set to Allow Multiple Responses.
To run a survey in kiosk mode:
1. Click the Surveys icon.
2. Select the survey you want survey takers to take.
3. Tap Send.
4. Turn on Multiple responses per device.
5. Tap Kiosk Mode.
6. Select whether you want to Continue without Screen Lock or Continue with Screen Lock. With screen lock on, your SurveyMonkey password needs to be entered into the device to exit Kiosk mode.
To exit Kiosk mode:
1. Tap the X in the top corner of your survey
2. Tap Close Kiosk Mode. If you have Screen Lock on, you’ll also be prompted to enter your SurveyMonkey password.
Sending Your Survey to Survey Takers
You can send a web link collector to survey takers using the SurveyMonkey app or collect responses directly on your device.
To send a survey link:
1. Tap the Surveys icon.
2. Tap the survey you want to send.
3. Tap Send. If there are multiple collectors on the survey, you’re prompted to choose an existing web link collector.
4. Select from the following options for sending your survey:
  Tap the Survey Link and choose Copy Link or Open in Safari.
  Send via Email - Create an email message in your default mail client. The survey link is included in the body of the message. This is different than SurveyMonkey's email collector which allows you to send and track survey takers using SurveyMonkey's mailer. To use SurveyMonkey's email collector, log into our desktop site.
  Send via Text - Send your survey link to others via SMS or iMessage.
  Share to Facebook - Share your survey link on Facebook.
  Share on Twitter - Share your survey link on Twitter.
If your survey takers are using a shared computer (e.g. in a computer lab), or if each of your survey takers needs to submit multiple surveys, tap the toggle next to Multiple responses per device to allow multiple responses per device.
To collect responses on your device:
1. Tap the Surveys icon.
2. Tap the survey you want to send.
3. Tap Send.
4. Select Kiosk Mode to collect responses directly on your device.
Once the Kiosk Mode survey is completed, you can choose to either Return to Start to enter a new response, or Close Kiosk Mode to return to the app.
The Kiosk Mode options control whether or not your SurveyMonkey password is required to return to the app:
- Continue without Screen Lock - You’re able to return to the SurveyMonkey app without having to enter your SurveyMonkey password. This option is ideal if you are using Kiosk Mode to manually enter your own responses.
- Continue with Screen Lock - You need to enter your SurveyMonkey password in order to return to the app. This option is ideal if you plan to collect responses in a setting where the survey takers are using your device.

Analyzing Surveys

Sharing Your Results
You can create a Shared Data link to share your results online.
To create a Shared Data link:
1. Tap the Surveys icon.
2. Tap the survey whose results you want to share.
3. Tap Analyze.
4. Tap the Three dots icon in the upper-right corner.
5. Tap Share Data. Tap Add Link to create a new page or tap an existing share link to edit it.
6. Configure the settings at the bottom of the screen.
7. Choose an option for sending the share link. You can also tap the link itself to Copy link or Open it in your mobile browser.
Log in to your account on www.surveymonkey.com to access more Shared Data settings.
Disabling or Deleting Share Links
When someone tries to access a disabled or deleted share link, they see a message that the shared data is unavailable.
To disable a share link:
1. On the Share Data page, tap the shared data link you want to disable.
2. Under Settings, tap the toggle next to Status: Enabled. This turns the status to Disabled.
You can tap the toggle again to reactivate the link at any time.
To delete a share link:
1. On the Share Data page, swipe left on the shared data link you want to delete.
2. Tap Delete.
Viewing and Filtering Survey Responses
You can view a summary of your survey results or browse individual responses.
To view a summary of your survey results:
1. Tap the Surveys icon.
2. Tap the survey whose results you want to view.
3. Tap Analyze.
You can change the chart type shown for a question by tapping on it. If you have a Net Promoter Score question in your survey, your score is be presented on a gauge chart. You cannot change this chart type in the app.
Tapping on a question also lets you create a filter on your results. Paid customers can filter survey results for closed-ended questions. Mobile filters create a quick view of your data and cannot be saved. To use saved filters, login to your SurveyMonkey account on our desktop site.
To browse individual responses:
1. On the Analyze screen, tap the Respondents icon at the top of the screen.
2. Choose the individual response you want to view from the list.
3. From there, you can tap the arrows to browse through the other responses.

Managing Surveys

Managing Survey Alerts
If you have Survey Alerts turned on, we send you push notifications and emails when you receive new responses. You can turn survey alerts off for individual surveys.
If you turn off push notifications for the SurveyMonkey app, you will no longer receive email alerts.
There are two kinds of survey alerts:
- All Surveys: Receive alerts when you get your first response to a new survey and on days you get responses to any active survey.
- New Surveys Only: Only receive alerts when new surveys get their first response.
To manage survey alerts:
1. Tap the Profile icon.
2. Tap New Responses under Notifications.
3. Select which kind of alerts you want.
4. Tap Done.
To turn survey alerts on or off for an individual survey:
1. Tap the Surveys icon.
2. Tap the survey whose results you want to view.
3. Toggle New Response Alerts under Settings.
Closing a Survey to Stop Collecting Responses
To stop collecting responses, you must close all collectors on the survey. If there are any open collectors on the survey, the overall survey status remains open.
To close a collector:
1. Tap the Surveys icon.
2. Tap the survey whose results you want to view.
3. On the Summary page, you can close your survey by changing the survey status:
  If there is only one collector, tap the toggle next to Survey Status Open.
  If there are multiple collectors, tap Status: Open. Tap the toggle next to the collector(s) you want to close.
When survey takers try to access the survey through a closed collector, they see a closed survey message. If you need to edit or customize the closed survey message, you can login to your SurveyMonkey account on our desktop site.
TIP! To re-open the collector, tap the Closed status.
