The Multiple Textboxes question allows you to collect multiple open-ended answers with a single question. You can also configure this question to collect numerical data only.
To add this question type:
Select Only Allow Numerical Data to require people to answer with a positive or negative whole number. Only numerical digits (including ‘0’) and the minus symbol (-) are accepted.
With this setting applied, survey-takers will receive an error message if they enter other characters such as commas, decimals, fractions, or percent signs. You can customize the error message that survey-takers see when an answer is not accepted.
This option requires that all answers add up to a fixed sum that you define. Learn More: Requiring a Fixed Sum
Before you send out your survey, preview your survey design to see what your survey will look like to respondents.
Since there are so many validation options for this question type, make sure to customize the question text and error messages so respondents know how to answer the question correctly.
When you view your responses in the Analyze Results section, click Responses next to any textbox label to see a list of open-ended responses for that textbox.
Click View respondent's answers below any comment to jump to the respondent's individual response.
You can also use the text analysis features to identify and tag recurring words or themes in your open-ended text responses.
If you selected the Only Allow Numerical Data option, we'll calculate the average for each textbox.
The average is calculated as follows:
