Getting Feedback on Surveys and Results

You can invite others to give feedback on your survey design by sharing your survey preview link or sending an invite to comment. Once you collect survey responses, you can use a shared data page to invite others to give feedback on your survey results.

TIP! Anyone can view your survey preview or the shared data page, but will need to sign in to a SurveyMonkey account to view and post comments. Anyone you invite can sign up for free.

You can share your survey preview by copying the preview link or sending an email invitation asking for feedback. Anyone can test your survey and those signed into a SurveyMonkey account may be able to post comments. Only the survey owner can invite people to the preview by email and turn commenting on or off to gather feedback.

To share your survey preview:

  1. Click Share for review.
  2. Enter names or email addresses to Send the preview to via email or click Copy to copy and paste the preview link.

If you’re on a team plan, you can tag teammates in comments by @mentions or share surveys with others and give them permission to collaborate on the survey’s design.

EARLY ACCESS: Currently only available to some customers.

You can share your survey preview by starting a review session and copying the preview link. Anyone, with or without an account, can test your survey and post a comment. Only the survey owner can invite people to a review session and turn commenting on or off to gather feedback.

To share your survey preview:

  1. Go to the Design Survey section.
  2. Click the Share icon in the upper-right corner to open a review session page.
  3. Switch the toggle on to start a review session:
    • The review session ends in 10 days from when you started it.
    • You can Restart the session back to 10 days, once the counter is down to 9 days or less.
    • Toggle off to close a review session. The share link will no longer be active.
    • A new link is generated if you open a new review session.
  4. Click Copy
  5. Share out the review session link for feedback and comments.

If you’re on a team plan, you can tag teammates in comments by @mentions.

When you share a review session link with someone with a SurveyMonkey account, the survey is shared with them.

TIP! Reach out to the survey owner to extend your review session access.

When you open a review session, you can share out the link to anyone—even those who don't own a SurveyMonkey account (Guests). The level of survey access someone has depends on whether you're both on the same team, or if you, or they have their own account.

Guests will be asked for their name when opening the review session link. Everyone with access to the preview session can see comments made, and are able to reply to them

Once you have survey responses, you can create a shared data page so others can view your data and give feedback on survey results. When commenting is turned on, reviewers can post comments on the results of each survey question. Only the survey owner can invite people to the shared data page by email and turn commenting on or off to gather feedback.

To invite people to your shared data page:

  1. Go to the Analyze Results section of your survey and create a shared data page.
  2. On the shared data page, copy and share the link at the bottom of the page or click the Invite icon in the upper-right corner to share by email—click Invite in the dropdown, enter email addresses, and click Send.
  3. Return to the Invite dropdown and select the toggle to turn commenting on or off.

If you're on a team plan, you can share surveys with others and give them permission to create their own shared data page and export results.

You need a SurveyMonkey account to post comments on a survey preview or shared data page. If you don’t have one already, you can sign up for free.

Anyone can reply to comments on the survey preview or shared data page, as long as commenting is on.

Survey takers won’t see comments when they’re taking the live survey.

Anyone can view your survey preview or the shared data page, but needs to sign in to a SurveyMonkey account to view comments.

Click on the Comment icon next to any question to display comments for that question.

TIP! If you aren't the survey owner, you may need to take the survey preview to see comments to questions that aren’t on the first page.

Anyone can reply to comments, or edit and delete their own comments from the survey preview or shared data page.

Only survey owners can delete, resolve, or unresolve other people's comments—expand a section to learn more about managing comments.
