Post Responses Automatically in Slack

Beta feature: The Connect apps tab and ability to post to a Slack channel is only available to some English customers in the United States, Canada, United Kingdom, or Australia, at this time. 

Connect your SurveyMonkey account with Slack so you can automatically post survey responses in public or private Slack channels, in real time. You can set up the workflow so all responses post to Slack or set conditions based on a specific set of responses to target notifications and encourage the right people to take action.

Connecting SurveyMonkey to Slack is helpful for initiating action to follow up with customers or employees to improve trends based on their responses to your survey, or to share feedback to offer transparency to your team or just to the right people.

Automating responses in Slack is only possible for Complete responses

You can set up automations so survey responses post in Slack. 

To set up your survey to send Slack messages with your survey responses:

  1. Select a survey from My Surveys or the new homepage
  2. From the Connect Apps tab, locate Slack under the Discover tab.
  3. Select the quick action, Post to channel.
    1. If it's the first time you're posting to a channel, select Connect to link your SurveyMonkey account to Slack.
    2. Select Allow to give SurveyMonkey access to your Slack workspace.
  4. Select or search for the Slack Channel you want to post responses to.
  5. (Optional) Enter an Optional Message to send along with the response in Slack, to provide context. 
  6. (Optional) Turn on the toggle to Link to response, if you want to include a link to SurveyMonkey.com within your post.
  7. (Optional) Select + next to Include survey data if you want to select to 5 questions to display with your Slack post.
    1. Select + Add more data and select a question.
    2. Repeat as desired, then select Apply.
  8. (Optional) To target specific responses, rather than post for all responses, select + Target specific responses.
    1. Select Add filter
    2. Select your Criteria questions and answer. 
    3. Select Add
    4. To add additional filters, select + Add new filter and repeat the last 3 steps.
    5. Select Apply
  9. Select Activate.

An overview of all Slack quick actions you set up are available in the Manage tab within the Connect apps tab. Select a toggle to disable or enable a quick action. Or, you can select the three dot menu (…) to Edit action, Manage connection, or Delete an automation.

TIP! Feel free to create multiple workflows to deliver to various channels or use filters to customize the information getting sent to Slack.

  • Condition Limitations

Any new responses matching your Send when filter criteria post to your channels in real time. The message you set up displays and may have a link to view the individual response, which opens a Shared data page in a new tab.

You can view and manage your connected apps and actions from the Manage tab, under Connect Apps.

You can Manage connections to either Reauthenticate, which refreshes your existing connection, or Delete the individual users' installation of the app.

In order to fully remove the SurveyMonkey app from your Slack workspace, a Slack Admin is needed. They can Remove app from the app listing's Configuration tab.

To manage your Slack quick actions, you can also select the toggle to turn an action on or off, or click the to Edit action or Delete it permanently.
