Getting Feedback on Surveys and Results

You can invite others to give feedback on your survey design by opening a review session, sharing your survey preview link or sending an invite to comment. Once you collect survey responses, you can use a shared data page to invite others to give feedback on your survey results.

You can share a preview of your survey’s design by copying and sharing the preview link or opening a review session. Anyone, with or without an account, can test your survey and post a comment. Only the survey owner can invite people to a review session and turn commenting on or off to gather feedback.

Teams and Enterprise users can also tag teammates in comments using @mentions or share surveys with others to collaborate on the survey’s design.

You can share your survey preview by copying the preview link or sending an email invitation asking for feedback. Anyone can test your survey and those signed into a SurveyMonkey account may be able to post comments. Only the survey owner can invite people to the preview by email and turn commenting on or off to gather feedback.

  • Go to Design Survey.
  • From Design Survey, click the Share button
  • Copy your preview link and share it. Reviewers can open the preview and leave comments. This option is always available and does not expire.
  1. Go to the Design Survey section.
  2. Select Add Collaborators.
  3. There are a couple of ways to share the preview with others:
    • By email: Enter email addresses, and select SEND.
    • In a link: Copy and paste the preview link by selecting COPY. You can also copy and share the URL from the address bar.
  • Go to Design Survey.
  • From Design Survey, select the Share icon in the upper-right corner to open the Sharing screen.
  • Select the Preview Link tab, then choose the way you want to share:
    • Review Session:  Turn on the toggle to start a session. A Review Session runs for 10 days from when it begins and each session generates a new link.

To close the Review Session early and remove all guest access, turn the toggle off.

  • Turning on the toggle again starts a new session and restarts the 10-day timer with a fresh guest list.
  • Regenerate creates a new link and removes all guests. This is designed for security resets only. The owner must confirm twice that they want to regenerate the Review Session link..
  • Select Copy link.
  • Share it with reviewers so they can view the preview and leave comments.

When a review session is opened or expires, collaborators are given varying levels of view, edit and sharing permissions based on your plan type, survey settings and whether or not they have a SurveyMonkey account. Choose your

When you open a review session, you can share out the link to anyone—even those who don't own a SurveyMonkey account (Guests). The level of survey access someone has depends on whether you're both on the same team, or if you, or they have their own account.

Note: Guests will be asked for their name when opening the review session link. Everyone with access to the review session can see comments made, and are able to reply to them.

Only the survey owner can share their preview link. Guests and other users can preview and comment on the survey, but will not be able to share the link.

While review session is active:

  • Guest: Has view-only access and can comment on the survey.
  • Logged in user: Has view-only access, can comment on the survey, and the survey will be shared with them.

After review session ends:

  • Guest: Loses survey access, including viewing and commenting.
  • Logged in user: Keeps access to the shared survey from their SurveyMonkey account.

Once you have survey responses, you can create a dashboard or shared data page so others can view your data and give feedback on survey results. When commenting is turned on, reviewers can post comments on the results of each survey question. Only the survey owner can invite people to the shared data page by email and turn commenting on or off to gather feedback.

To create and share a dashboard, read our article about Results Dashboards.

To invite people to your shared data page:

  1. Go to the Analyze Results section of your survey and create a shared data page.
  2. On the shared data page, copy and share the link at the bottom of the page or click the Invite icon in the upper-right corner to share by email—click Invite in the dropdown, enter email addresses, and click Send.
  3. Return to the Invite dropdown and select the toggle to turn commenting on or off.

If you're on a team plan, you can share surveys with others and give them permission to create their own shared data page and export results.
