Adding Comment Fields to Multiple Choice Questions

Multiple choice questions are a great way to gather structured feedback. If you want respondents to elaborate on their response, add a comment field to your multiple choice questions.

To add comment fields to a multiple choice question;

  1. From your draft survey, select Add Question, then select Multiple Choice.
  2. Add your question and response options.
  3. In the right-side menu, toggle on the Include Comment Field option.
  4. You’ll see speech bubble icons appear next to each response option. Toggle these icons to enable or disable comments for each response option.
  5. Enter a label for the comment field.

When you publish your survey, respondents will see your comment field when they select any response you enabled it for.

If you're using our Salesforce integration, you can map the comment fields into Salesforce. From your survey, select Mappings > Salesforce Custom Mappings to map your multiple choice question and comments to Salesforce.

You may experience issues if you map comments to restricted picklist fields in Salesforce. If you map your multiple choice responses to a picklist field, it’s best to create a custom text field in Salesforce for your comment responses.
