SurveyMonkey Industry Benchmarks provide you with the means to view the average scores of like companies. Simply designate your industry and company size in account settings and, after your first Core Survey runs, you'll be able to see how you stack up in the Benchmarks section of your Analyze tools. If you haven’t specified your industry or company size, or it's unavailable for selection, you'll see a general benchmark reflective of a broad sample of full-time employed adults.

We collected benchmark data from samples of employed adults in the United States using the questions contained in our Core Survey. As such, Engage benchmarks reflect performance on Core Surveys alone, not evolving scores that include Check-Ins.

Our nationwide research sampled 34,283 total respondents (26,302 new respondents in addition to 7,981 previous respondents) selected from the nearly two and a half million people who take surveys on the SurveyMonkey platform each day. The respondents work in a wide range of company sizes across specific industries, including technology, hospitality, financial services, consumer goods, and healthcare.

These data were combined and have been weighted for age, race, sex, education, employment status, and geography to reflect the demographic composition of the United States. To preserve privacy, responses to a given question are aggregated and de-identified to create a set of average statistics about that question—we don't disclose any individual responses, personal information, or organization names.

Benchmark values represent an average response for each question. We also categorized responses into comparison groups based on industry and company size. Benchmark data is refreshed annually.
