SurveyMonkey

The One Question at a Time survey format makes it faster and easier to take a survey. Survey takers can focus their attention on one question at a time at the center of the screen, and when they finish answering a question, the survey automatically scrolls to the next one for them.

To select the One Question at a Time format:

  1. Click the Design Survey tab.
  2. In the left sidebar, click the Format icon.
  3. Select One Question at a Time.
  4. Click Save.

You can't adjust question layout when the One Question at a Time format is turned on.

To prevent the survey from jumping to the next question before you're done answering the current one, some question types (like Comment Box) include an OK button that you need to click before it scrolls to the next question.

To customize the OK button text:

  1. Go to the Design Survey tab.
  2. In the left sidebar, click the Format icon.
  3. Click One Question at a Time.
  4. Enter button text.
  5. Click Save.

When the One Question at a Time format is turned on, the progress bar is automatically turned on. When both settings are turned on at the same time, the progress bar displays in the footer of the survey instead of the header, and progress is measured by how many questions (out of the total) you've answered so far, rather than how many pages you've completed.

You can turn off the progress bar at any time while keeping the One Question at a Time format turned on.

When the One Question at a Time format is used, survey takers see a toggle for Screen Reader Mode. Clicking the toggle switches the survey format to Classic, which an accessible format that's best for people using a screen reader to take a survey.
