Survey Design System Messages

For your convenience, the survey designer shows badges to indicate when certain features are implemented on pages and questions in your survey. This allows you to quickly identify, remove and change the question or pages affected by these features. Hovering over the badges will show a tooltip indicating what feature they're representing. If you click on the badge, it'll jump you to the feature in the interface.

In the lower right hand corner, we'll pop up information, messages and statuses on communication happening between your browser and our servers. These notifications are used to both let you know when data is being transmitted or received. If an error occurs, you'll see it show up in red and persist on the screen. You can reference some of the most common error messages and what they mean in the Errors section at the bottom of this page.

The following messages are shown when we detect that you've made a change that might cause an adverse affect on your survey.

This warning display because the Question Skip Logic you've implemented causes a page to redirect to a question on the same page. Please note that question logic only executes when the user hits the Next button at the end of the page.

The use of some SurveyMonkey features results in the loss of certification for questions added from our Question Bank Library. If you edit the wording of a question or how the answer choices are presented, it'll no longer be certified, which means it might be subject to bias and accuracy issues. This will also cause the Question Bank-certified badge disappear from the question.

Parts of certain Certified Questions can be customized if you see dropdowns in the question text. Clicking on those words will give you alternative options that can better fit the context of your survey.

The following messages are shown when changes to the survey or question will limit the features you can use.

Because this question has collected responses, the changes you can make to this question will be limited to help preserve the integrity of the data already collected. For example, you will only be able to hide certain answer options rather than delete them.

The choices you've recently added to the question weren't saved before you switched to the logic tab. Until you save the question, the new answer choices will not be available in the Question Skip Logic settings. You'll need to save the question and then edit it again to use the new answer choices in your skip logic.

Because a quota was created that references this question, the changes you can make to this question will be limited to help preserve the integrity of the quota. For example, you will only be able to hide certain answer options rather than delete them.

Because this question has question logic associated with it, the changes you can make to this question will be limited to help preserve the integrity of logic. For example, you will only be able to hide certain answer options rather than delete them.

If you apply page skip logic or question skip logic to your survey, the number of pages complete will be hidden from the progress bar. You can, however, still show percentage complete in the progress bar.
