Taxes on SurveyMonkey Purchases

Depending on the billing country, taxes may be included in the price of subscriptions, renewals, and other purchases when applicable. We outlined the billing countries where tax is included in purchases. You may be able to exclude taxes from your purchase.

If you don’t see your billing country listed here, SurveyMonkey doesn't include taxes in your purchase price. It’s your responsibility as a consumer or business to pay any applicable taxes to your local government, as needed.

European Union

If you're located outside of the United States, SurveyMonkey may be provided to you by our European subsidiary in Ireland, SurveyMonkey Europe UC.

To comply with laws in the European Union (EU), Value Added Tax (VAT) is included in the price of subscriptions, renewals, and other purchases when applicable.

  • The applicable VAT rate depends on your billing country.
  • If you're a VAT-registered business in the EU (other than Ireland), you can add a VAT registration number to pay a price exclusive of VAT.
  • We're required to collect VAT on all transactions with our customers located in Ireland.
Adding a VAT Number
To exclude VAT from your purchase, you need to add your VAT number before making a payment—you can't retroactively apply a VAT number to a paid invoice.

If you're a VAT-registered business in the EU (other than Ireland), you can add a VAT registration number to exclude VAT from your purchase.

  • On the checkout page, scroll to the Billing Details section. Click Apply VAT Registration Number. It'll be applied to that payment and future payments made by your account.
  • In your account, go your Billing Details. Scroll to the Contact Information section (the section for your billing contact) and click Edit. From the window, click Add tax registration number. When you add or edit an existing VAT registration number here, it's applied to future payments.

If your VAT registration number is invalid, please refer to the proper VAT ID formats by EU member state on the European Commission website and try again.

VAT Invoices

You can find your invoices in your Transaction History. They include the applicable VAT rate for your billing country, the price of the plan with VAT included, and total amount you paid. Invoices are also emailed to the billing contact listed on the account.

If you see a notice that your invoice is pending, please wait 48 hours then check your Transaction History.
