Adding Tables

You can use the advanced rich text editor to add a table to your survey in the following supported fields:

To add a table:

  1. Click . in the rich text editor to open the advanced rich text editor.
  2. Click ¢ and then Insert table.
  3. Drag your cursor over the grid to choose the dimensions of the table and click to insert it. You can create a table as large as 10 x 10 cells. If you need to add more, you can insert additional rows or columns after you add the table.
  4. Click and drag any corner of the table to resize it and make it easier to add text into each cell.
  5. Enter text in the cells.

Editing Tables

You may need a basic understanding of HTML to use some table options.

Properties

Properties control the appearance of the table as a whole, an individual row in the table, or an individual cell in the table.

Table Properties

Table properties control the appearance of the table as a whole.

To edit table properties:

  1. Click anywhere in the table.
  2. Click ¢ and then Table properties.
Option
Description
WidthThe width of the table, in pixels.
HeightThe height of the table, in pixels.
Cell spacingThe space between cells, in pixels.
Cell paddingThe space between the cell wall and the cell content, in pixels.
BorderThe width of the border around the perimeter of the table, in pixels.
CaptionInserts a center-aligned caption cell above the table.
AlignmentThe horizontal alignment of the table within the survey page—left, center, or right.
StyleEnter style attributes to apply inline CSS to this table.
Border colorThe color of the border around the perimeter of the table.
Background colorThe background color of the entire table.

Cell Properties

Cell properties control the appearance of an individual cell in the table.

To edit cell properties:

  1. Click the cell you want to edit.
  2. Click ¢ > Cell > Cell properties.

Description
WidthThe width of the cell, in pixels.
HeightThe height of the cell, in pixels.
Cell Type
  • Header: Designates the cell as a header cell for the row or column. Text in the cell is bold and center-aligned.
  • Cell: A normal data cell in the table.
ScopeAssociates this header cell with a specific set of data cells.
  • Row: This cell provides header information for the rest of the row that contains it.
  • Col: This cell provides header information for the rest of the column that contains it.
  • Row group: This header cell provides header information for the rest of the row group that contains it.
  • Column group: This header cell provides header information for the rest of the column group that contains it.
H AlignThe horizontal alignment of the text within the cell—left, center, or right.
V AlignThe vertical alignment of the text within the cell—top, middle or bottom.
StyleEnter style attributes to apply inline CSS to this cell.
Border colorThe color of the border around the individual cell.
Background colorThe background color of the individual cell.

Row Properties

Row properties control the appearance of an individual row in the table.

To edit row properties:

  1. Click the row you want to edit.
  2. Click ¢ > Row > Row properties.

Description
Row typeThe row type indicates what type of content the row contains:
  • Header: Adds a thead tag around the row or rows to group them as the header content of the table.
  • Body: Adds a tbody tag around the row or rows to group them as the body content of the table.
  • Footer: Adds a tfoot tag around the row or rows to group them as the footer content of the table.
AlignmentThe horizontal alignment of the text within every cell in the row—left, center, or right.
HeightThe height of the row, in pixels.
StyleEnter style attributes to apply inline CSS to this row.
Border colorThe color of the border around the perimeter of this row.
Background colorThe background color of every cell in this row.

Merging or Splitting Cells

Merging cells combines two or more cells together. Splitting cells breaks aparted merged cells.

Merging Cells

To merge cells:

  1. Click . in the rich text editor to open the advanced editor.
  2. Click and drag to highlight the cells you want to merge.
  3. Click ¢.
  4. Click Cell.
  5. Click Merge cells.
Splitting Cells

To split a cell:

  1. Click . in the rich text editor to open the advanced editor.
  2. Click the cell you want to split.
  3. Click ¢.
  4. Click Cell.
  5. Click Split cell

Managing Rows, Columns, and Tables

Insert or delete rows and columns, or delete the entire table.

Adding, Moving, or Deleting Rows

To insert, move, or delete a row:

  1. Select the row you want to take action on by clicking any cell in the row.
  2. Click ¢ > Row.
  3. Choose one of the following options from the menu.

Insert row beforeInserts a new row above the row that's currently selected.
Insert row afterInserts a new row below the row that's currently selected.
Delete rowDeletes the row that's currently selected.
Cut rowRemoves the row that's currently selected and adds it to your clipboard so you can paste it elsewhere in the table.
Copy rowAdds the row to your clipboard so you can paste it elsewhere in the table.
Paste row beforeInserts a cut or copied row above the row that's currently selected.
Paste row afterInserts a cut or copied row below the row that's currently selected.

Adding or Deleting Columns

To access column options:

  1. Select the column you want to take action on by clicking any cell in that column.
  2. Click ¢ > Column.

Insert column beforeInserts a new column to the left of the column that's currently selected.
Insert column afterInserts a new column to the right of the column that's currently selected.
Delete columnDeletes the column that's currently selected.

Deleting a Table

To delete a table:

  1. Click . in the rich text editor to open the advanced editor.
  2. Click the table to select it.
  3. Click ¢.
  4. Click Delete table.
You can use the advanced rich text editor to add a table to your survey in question text and Page Description fields.
